Holy Trinity Catholic School (11-16) seeks to serve young people from both the Catholic and the local community, welcoming all those who embrace its values and share its quest for excellence.
In January 2020, a Section 48 inspection rated the school ‘Outstanding’ and Ofsted judged the school as ‘Outstanding’ for Personal Development, Behaviour & Attitudes, and Leadership & Management in September 2023. We are very proud of these achievements; our Catholic faith underpins everything we do as a school community.
Located in Small Heath, Birmingham, Holy Trinity is a mixed secondary school and founder partner of the St Teresa of Calcutta Multi-Academy Company, within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham.
Despite having a small number of Catholic pupils (4%), the Catholic ethos and culture in the school is a significant strength and visitors often comment upon its warm and welcoming atmosphere. Most pupils (81%) are Muslim, with others from a wide range of Christian and faith backgrounds, as well as those with no religion. Our devoutly religious and spiritually literate Muslim community, support in ensuring that worship of Jesus Christ is at the Centre of our school. Holy Trinity Catholic School also welcomes pupils from a wide range of other Christian and other faith communities. Within our highly inclusive community, we fully embrace pupils and families not affiliated to any religion.
Holy Trinity currently has 755 pupils on roll, with significantly higher proportions of SEND, disadvantaged, EAL, and minority ethnic pupils than national averages. Starting points on entry are well below national levels. The school draws from over 45 feeder primaries and serves a community in the upper quintile for deprivation nationally.
Underpinned by Catholic Social Teaching (CST) our school works relentlessly to alleviate poverty within its own community and wider, and battles to provide ‘a preferential option for the poor’. Holy Trinity goes above and beyond in its caring ethos to support those who are disadvantaged and sees this as an essential part of its mission to follow the example of Jesus Christ.
The January 2020 Section 48 report praised how “the mission of the school permeates every aspect of its work” and how staff and pupils foster “a steadfast culture of respect and love for each other as creations of God”.
More recently, Holy Trinity achieved the Gold award in the Unicef Rights Respecting Schools Charter. As the founder member of the St Teresa of Calcutta MAC, Holy Trinity is committed to the spiritual development of all children across our family of schools. All stakeholders are highly committed to making further improvements to ensure that all pupils attending Holy Trinity receive the highest possible standard in Catholic Education.
